Nail Art - Comic Nails Fail?

SCCASTANEDA's GROOVE

I saw a tutorial on Youtube the other night and I wanted to test it out. On Mothers Day, before I got to my mom's house...I picked up the Sunday paper.

To be honest, I don't read the comics so I was not looking for anything in particular. I picked "Tina's Groove" simply because she has dark hair like me hahha.

Following the directions of the video you will need a base, I am using a nail strengthener by Nail Tek.
2 coats of white nail polish of your choice, I am using one by Wet n Wild.

Then next steps call for:

Newspaper, Rubbing Alcohol, and a shallow dish.

Side note: please excuse the nasty little bowl I am using. I use it for water marbling lol.

Take the image that you want to transfer on your nails and dip into the alcohol filled bowl.

Then quickly place on nail and hold down with opposite thumb for 30 seconds.

DAMN IT!! Nail art fail! lol. They transferred soooo light. If you watch the video I linked in the beginning of this post...her transfers are amazing!

I had a few good ones, but still not as bright as the ones I saw in the video.

I think they look kinda cool being that they are not perfect and the images are still there. So maybe, to make myself feel better, these are the more subdued version.

NOTE TO SELF: USE A REAL COMIC BOOK LIKE IN THE TUTORIAL

hahhahaa. I think the ink in a comic book are a lot more intense...so that is what I recommend you all try. I'm going to look for yard sales this weekend and see what I can find!

I also did newspaper print nails using a grey base and the PennySaver and they came out really cute! Let me know what you guys think and if you have tried this before. Any tips??

My little artist

Jude loves books and he loves to color! I got him a chalkboard / whiteboard for ROSS that was around $9. Hes a little guy still so it was perfect because it sits right on top of an old table we have on the patio until we get new furniture for it. This is how Jude starts his mornings...a bowl of strawberries and pjs covered with marker :)

He still has bed head ahaha :) Little honey.

Dinner, Please
It felt like such a long day! When we got back from the market I had the tough decision of what to make for dinner. I knew I wanted something that wasn't going to take too long, and that had to feed a few people. I had a sope at Olvera Street, so it was an easy choice.

What you will need:
Pico de Gallo - Tomatoes, Onion, Cilantro. Cabbage, Lemon and Mexican cheese.

Meat of your choice, Ryan wanted beef...so we cooked the Carne Asada.

Re fried beans - Good thing we had these in the pantry! I almost forgot!

Sope shells, that's what I call them...and veggie oil to fry them.

I didn't want to risk burning myself lol...so I sacrificed Ryan hahah.

Put them all together and TA-DA! Oh shoot! I forgot to mention that there is sour cream in the mix. I love me some sour cream!

Product of the Night:

Beauty Rush Candy, Baby Body Double Mist by Victoria's Secret

This body mist is not only a fragrance, but its an oil spray too. As you can see in the following pictures the light pink and clear liquids separating.

Since I got this thing I swear I use it everyday right out of the shower!

I wanted something that was going to smell really sweet and give my skin some moisture at the same time. I am a girly-girl so this is perfect! The only way that I can describe the scent is cotton candy! :) The oil gives my skin a nice glow.

muahhhhhh!

My Second Mother's Day: Time with the familia

Sunday, May 8, 2011

"A father may turn his back on his child, brothers and sisters may become inveterate enemies, husbands may desert their wives, wives their husbands. But a mother's love endures through all" ~Washington Irving

First things first, I needed to get dressed. The weather here in California is never certain anymore. I wasn't sure what to wear and what to bring just in case a dark cloud decided to follow me.

My details:

Maxi dress by FOREVER21

Skinny black braided belt by FOREVER21

Gladiator sandals by Kennith Cole Reaction

Anchor Bracelet by Betsey Johnson (not seen in the first few pictures)
Please excuse my pig pen, I always seem to make a huge mess when I get dressed hehe.

I need to seriously always keep my bf around so I have someone to take pictures of me, or invest in a tripod.

My Second mothers day

Jude has been in my life for almost 2 years (this August) and its been a blessing. I am so lucky to have been raised by such a strong woman. My mom was a single parent who raised 4 children on her own. Every holiday, including Fathers Day, we praised my mother. I was so scared when I found out that I was pregnant because I didn't want the possibility of raising Jude alone. Now that it is a reality, I know that I have the ability of doing what my mom did. I know I am far from perfect...but I am doing and going to continue to do what I can and what is best for my son. I thank God every day for everything that I have, and for the ability to provide for my son on my own. Making a baby is easy...being a parent and actually raising a child is a whole other ball game. I am proud to say that I am a mother, and today is my day.

Alright Sonia, relax! Lol...*turns off the serious music*. Mothers Day we always get together and hang out. I made sure to bring some bubbles to keep the kids entertained for a while so us "big kids" could sit and enjoy each others company.

Since Jude is an only child, he gets so happy when he has a chance to play with his cousins.

(Tommy and Mikey)

I used to love running around in the backyard....its nice to see Jude making similar memories.

(Denise, Mikey, Tommy, and Emma)

Hes such a big boy!

PICTURE TIME!! I think it runs in the family, we all love to take pictures hahah.

My mothers boyfriend needs a few lessons on how to work a camera lol...that bright spot in the following picture is his finger!

(Lizzie -my brothers wife, Mom, Christina - my twin, and meh!)

As we get older, my sister and I have become super close...I LOVE YOU PISSY!!

Mama Dunka and Baby Dunka

A quick family picture:

Marina - my little sister, Mom, Raymond - brother, Christina, and me.

Just the girls!

I missed my siblings so much. I wish I can turn the clock back and be a kid again.

I think Jude knew it was a special day, he was such an angel today! He came in sooo happy this morning with a hug smile and hugged me so tight ;) I think hes going to be a blogger like mommy........or make homemade movies with his friends like his daddy haha.

I like how hes missing his pants and one sock...but sporting the biggest smile on his face!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day, I know I did.
