How to make shrimp cocktail: Mexican Style
This little recipe is my moms and I still think she makes it way better than anyone or any restaurant. Anytime I go to a Mexican restaurant I get handed the ketchup and tapatio to mix it myself. This blog post will show you quickly how I make it....right.
Here's what you will need:
1lb of cooked shrimp
1lb imitation crab meat
2 tomatoes
4 lemons
3 cucumbers
4 ripe avocados
1/2 white onion
cilantro
V8 vegetable juice
ketchup
Tapatio hot sauce
Best to use a strainer so you wont lose your shrimp in the rinsing process.
Next shred the crab meat with fingers.
Add both shrimp and crab mean into a large mixing bowl or pot. All of these ingredients should be cooled / cold before adding any other items.

The most work is in the following: cutting up the veggies!
Cucumbers, tomatoes, and cilantro.
Ripe avocado. If your avocados are still hard, place them in a brown paper bag over night. If you do not have a paper bag handy you can place them in the pantry. My mom has done this for years. They should be ripe the next day.
White onion. I have seen it made with Purple onions, but I prefer the white with this dish.
Add all of them to your bowl and you are ready to add the liquids.
V8 usually comes in plastic or glass jugs, but today they were stocked in cans. Ketchup and Tapatio hot sauce are used for sweet and spice. I add salt to the mix if the ketchup is too sweet. Lemons can be served on the side, my family loves lots of lemon so I add it right away. If you are interested in watching my video click here.
Thanks guys for visiting my blog and I hope you have a chance to try this out. I wish I knew the exact amounts of liquids...but when it comes to Mexican dishes its all "eyeball it" lol.
