My Inner DragQueen

I love DragQueens

I really do. I love the makeup and the costumes. Women can easily put on makeup and run around in heels...but for big med to tuck and suck themselves into their get-up is amazing. I was first introduced to drag from the movie To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. If you have not seen it you will love it! Its sooo funny. I love John Leguizamo's character!

Anyway, I have been hooked on RuPaul's Dragrace and DragU on Logo. When my roomie told me about a drag show close by I jumped at the chance to see them with my big brown eyes.

(My roommate, Crystal and I)

We went to "Drag Idol" at Oasis Night Club in Upland, Ca. There were so many Queens! They were all pretty rough around the edges, lol, but I was still really excited.

Divas...they were all divas too.

This next Queen had a cool outfit on and red hair. She sang "Diamonds are Forever".

It was packed. I didn't know this little club was so popular, it was my first time.Loved her eye shadow. These men have talent! We had so much fun, danced till we couldn't feel our feet. I think hands down, gay clubs have the best music.

(cochina lol)

Now, so no one gets it twisted...I am NOT gay. I just enjoy the art and performance of Drag Queens. The makeup is amazing.

When we were younger, Crystal and I would go out all the time and have a blast. Its crazy to see how much we have changed over the years. Its been a journey and its not over!

Happy 27th Birthday Peakin!

How to make your old / current makeup brushes like new!

Like new: Dry n' Shape

I have tons of brushes that I have lost hope for because they are wicked and wild. The hairs are all over the place and thanks to Jude, they are smushed to hell. In the mail came the answer to my brushes' prayers...Sigma's Dry n' Shape.

I love the packaging everything comes in from Sigma. What it looks like inside...

Two buttons to keep your brushes secure...

These loops are the secret to the shaping and drying process.

The pockets below help keep your brushes in line and doubles as a brush roll!

Did you fall asleep? Whats wrong with ya?! Snap outta it because this is where I'm going to show you how I clean my brushes and get them back in to shape in no time!

I start with an anti bacterial hand soap that promotes moisture for your hands (which will condition your brushes). I like these types of soaps because they will kill bacteria that can cause breakouts, but they will still be soft and smell great at the same time.

Always hold your brushes at a downward angle to keep the water from running into the handle that can potentially loosen the glue and cause the brush to fall apart. No bueno.

In a swirly motion I clean my brushes with a drop of soap in the palm of my hands under the warm running water till the water is clear. Pat dry with a small hand towel.Taking the brush starting with the end of the handle, slip thru the top of the loop till the bristles are snug and covered by the black elastic band. If you go to far, just continue to bring the brush down from the top. You do not want to try to push it back, from bottom up because this will mess up the hairs.

Should look as it does in the picture below.

Slip the brush handle into the bottom pocket and continue the same steps to the other brushes.

This system accommodates brushes of all sizes big to small...

Some of the brushes are out of order but you can clearly see that the Dry n' Shape does work. These are not all Sigma brushes either....so they will work for all brands.

Details:
......................................................................
Holds 12 brushes

Dries and ReShapes brushes in under 6 hours (it took 4.5 for me)

Cost $29 USD on Sigma website

Doubles as a brush holder

........................................................................

I can honestly say that this will motivated me to care for my new and older brushes, extending their shelf life. You can follow the washing steps and place your brushes over night laying on a flat surface, this will prevent the water from going to the handle.

What do you wash your brushes with? I used MACs Brush cleaner but it was really $$. I tried e.l.f.'s brush cleaner and it didnt do anything for them. I have been using hand soap and its been working just fine.

Lisa Frank Nails - Get funky with it!

Bringing it back...way back

If you grew up in the 90s you might remember Lisa Frank, a bright and colorful stationary line that was know for bright funky colors and patterns. I have seen tons of nail tutorials inspired by Lisa Frank so I wanted to try it for you guys! Here is a little spiral notebook that I got some inspiration from:

The nail polish that I am using:

The raspberry polish by ColorClub is not marked, LA Girl - Funkadelic, SinfulColors - Pink & Neon Melon.
Next I prepared my nail station: Konad stamper, scraper, and m57 plate. I have cotton squares soaked in polish remover on stand-by. You need to clean the plate after each image transfer. I also have a plastic cutting "board" with a few sheets of paper towels over it, to protect the table I am using.

The m57 has to be Konads most popular plate because it has both zebra and cheetah prints on them. Everyone has asked me a million times when I got my konad supplies...ebay!

I start my polish application with a base coat. Usually its a nail protection/strengthener. I have been using NAILS ALIVE that I got from aveyou.com. It works great for those of us who just had acrylics and need so repair!

Painting a strip of each color, darkest to lightest, make sure they are dry before moving to the next stripe.(not happy with how thin the raspberry was :/)

This is how your nails should look after each color is applied.

Next for the stamping of the animal print. Paint a thick coat of special black polish over image.

Scrape off and stamp firmly over image and roll onto nails.

After nails have had time to dry, add your favorite top coat for a professional finish.

I am using Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat.

Ta-Da! The Konad stamps are my current addiction. I know I am late, Ive had them for a while...but I don't know what made me dust them off and give it a try. I love them and a lot of my Twitter followers love them too!

If you want to watch my live video CLICK HERE

Do you have Konad plates? Which plates should I get and what questions do you have about the system. I am not affiliated with the company, I am just a nail junkie who is currently in love with stamping!

My new favorite Shampoo and Conditioner - Colored Hair

Keep the color going strong

I went to a salon about a month ago with my roomie Crystal in San Dimas, Ca. I forget the name of it like a ding dong, if it comes to me while I write this I will let you guys know what it is. Anyhow, I was checking out all of the beauty and hair care products that they had on display and I had to get something. I know I didn't have to get something but I must have a problem hahah. My bath room looks like a beauty supply store! I remembered that I not only needed to dye my hair but that I needed to make sure that I bought something that would hold the color.

Bumble and Bumble Color Support : Shampoo and Conditioner

is what I decided to pick up.

I loved the packaging. Packaging is one thing that grabs your eyes, so I appreciated it haha. These products have color in them that are gonna help keep your dye job lasting longer. They come in I think 4 other shades, Blond being the lightest and Black the darkest.
This is a picture of the Shampoo, rich dark brown in color.

Next is the Conditioner, its thick and creamy.

When I think of color infused hair washes I automatically expect them to smell like dye. This B&B line smells like Dr.Pepper soda chap stick by SMACKERS. I'm not sure if this product is international...but that's the only way I could describe it! I don't even currently own it lol but it was a scent from way back when I was younger *cough cough* I'm going to be 27 in 2 months*cough cough*

I also picked up a small...tiny bottle of dry shampoo by Bumble and Bumble. It has color in it too so I have been too scared to use it! I need to because it was $20 USD! I tweeted a picture of it when I bought it so some of you might know what I am referring to. At cashout I almost had a heart attack when I heard the total...$79! AHHHHH! I got it anyway, but they told me if I didn't love it I could return it. To my surprise I really like it! I think I might be buying it again if I don't find something better from now until then.

I did notice that my color has stayed darker. I like to wash my hair and body...hello!...in really hot water and that tends to wash out color faster...but by turning the water temp down a bit and using this combo it has extended the life of my hair color. I am not saying to go get this because I know spending $25 a bottle might be ridiculous and make most budgets laugh...I'm just sharing my thoughts. I'm not sure where you can buy this stuff online...but suggest googling, and stay of ebay.com for liquid/cream products.

What do you recommend? Dupe?
