Growing my nails out - TRYING

In with the real out with the fake
...well we will see how long this lasts. As most of you know I am obsessed with my glue-on nails, but I am surrounded by thick healthy nails thanks a lot Carly. As I would glue on my nails Carly and now B would be slapping on a few coats of nail strengthener. I decided to join the club.
OPI - Matte NAIL ENVY Nail Strengthener
Ive had this polish for sometime now. I originally bought it for Kris because he has a nail biting problem and I thought this would help. It just collected dust and I forgot I had it until I came across it one day. I bought it at a salon for the ridiculous price of $15 USD.
You can find a nail strengthener at the drugstore for about $7. Carly uses one by Sally Hansen and can be seen in her nail tutorials.
....................................................
This is what my nails look like after I cut off the cuticles and washed my hands. I need some moisture in my life, I know lol. This is day 3 and I wanted to share my journey with you all.
After 2 coats of NAIL ENVY
As they dry to a matte finish
I challenge myself to at least 2 weeks. I want to see if its worth the mula and time. I have really thin nails that need some help. I like the glue-on nails for the thickness so I hope this will work.
Lets do this challenge together! I would love to show your before and afters if you would like to participate.
What do you recommend for thick strong nails?

Hi Sonia, Sometimes it just takes time to grow them out. For me, a multivitamin keeps my nails strong. Just a OneAday works great! Let us know how its coming along :) I've been following you for a while but this is my first comment. Heard of you from Dulce. Please follow my blog too. I'm trying to get a bigger audience.

I used to have fake nails on and off for a while. Once I decided it was too much money to maintain them I cut them off and let my nails grow out. I can tell you from experience it does take a while for your nails to grow out and be strong after wearing fake ones for so long. My nails are stronger than ever and I rarely even paint them anymore. Also, make sure you take vitamins...it honestly does help!

I have been wanting to grow my nails out for so long but it never seems to work (or I give up too easily). I am also an addict to glue on nails. The nail salons are expensive and butcher your nails even worse than glue ons. I can't wait to see how this goes for you.

well that's a new nail polish that i haven't considered yet. I've heard a lot about nail magic from sally's beauty supply store. just wanted to bring that up for future references

I have naturally strong nails, but for some reason I purchased a nail strengthener a few years back, not sure if it was after having a baby, or what, but the product is called T.I.P.S. and I got it from www.qvc.com and it worked wonders! also came with a great nail file that I still use to this day!

Eat lots of jello and peel garlic! lol natural ways to help your nails get thicker and stronger! The jello really works, there's something in the gelatin! just an FYI good luck

Ive been trying to grow my nails for the longest but as soon as one nail breaks I go back to acrylics ! Ive started using nail magic and so far I love it .

good luck! i think i'm about to do something like this too. it's really strange, but i feel like my nails have gotten weaker since i've been pregnant! :( i was even considering trying a shellac manicure. supposedly they're not harmful to your nails at all, plus it makes them thicker/stronger and it's much more affordable than actual fake nails :)

I live by this stuff! My nails grow long and strong, compared to them peeling, breaking, and bending.

I used to constantly get acrylics and my nails were like paper...so what i did was everytime they grew a little i would cut them, and they would grow back stronger. I also stoped using nail polish and would contantly use moisturiser and it really worked. At the begining a good nail hardener i used was called Witchcraft, and it had these little silver balls in the bottle. And this all worked wonders ppl think i have fake nails lol....Good luck !

Hey sonia. Im from Miami and I hear from allot of my Colombian family that "quimica alleman" you can buy it from local store Navarro or online Google it. Now it comes from outside of the US and it smells like shoe Polish at first but works like a charm. Nails are hard as rocks. Totally worth it.

Duri Rejuvacote is really good. It grew and strengthened my nails within 2 weeks and immediately saw outstanding results. Also, you can use it as base and a topcoat. $14 on duricosmetics.com but well worth it.

Hi Sonia! I usually heat up some olive oil and dip my fingers in it for about 5 minutes (every week). My fingers and nails look a lot better after doing this (and since i have to sit still anyway, why not take a foot bath at the same time?)Let me know if this works out for you:) Love, Mari from Norway (Yes, you have fans all over the world!:)

That's actually a reaally great product but If you've already had naturally thin nails to begin with then it won't make them super thick but it will be manageable :) You can't use it for too long or else your nails will start to get to thick and shatter at least that's what my teacher from HNA said. CUTICLE OIL is the cure to everything :)
